On November 18th, 2014, Carolyn Rafaelian, Founder, Creative Director and CEO of ALEX AND ANI, and Nicki Maher, Vice President of Charity by Design, were honored by Rhode Island Hospital for their efforts, support, and most importantly, the charitable contributions through the Charity by Design division. Due to donations made through the HERO Charm Bangle and the volunteer work within the hospital, ALEX AND ANI humbly accepted the President’s Pursuit of Excellence Award, which acknowledges a corporate champion who has given generously of their time and talent to help further the hospital’s mission.
The awards ceremony took place at the Omni Providence Hotel in Rhode Island where proceeds from this special evening supported patient care, research, and education; helping the hospital realize its academic mission while supporting the community when they need it most. Previous recipients of this prestigious award have been Amica Insurance, Citadel Broadcasting and Hasbro, Inc.

ALEX AND ANI is proud to be partnered with Hasbro Children’s Hospital; the first charitable partnership through the Charity by Design division. The HERO bangle launched in July 2011 and has proven to be a fan favorite. From charm design donations, in-store Charmed by Charity™ events, Bangle Bars, and event support throughout the year such as Hasbro Children’s Hospital’s annual Radiothon and the annual themed Hasbro Ball, the division has raised over $258,900 for the organization to help further their mission to provide excellence in state-of-the-art care to each patient and their family.
ALEX AND ANI employees have also embraced the mission of our partner by volunteering over 80 hours to Hasbro Children’s Hospital at events throughout the year such as the Hasbro Annual Radio-Thon, Family Day picnics, and arts and crafts sessions with the patients.
